Blooming Together: Gardening Club at CRISTA Senior Living

At CRISTA Senior Living, opportunities for meaningful gatherings and purposeful activity are a core part of the residents’ daily lives. One popular activity in our senior living community is the resident-led Gardening Club. This weekly group brings together those passionate about nature, outdoor activities, and regular community gatherings.

Nestled within the beautiful grounds of Cristwood Park in Shoreline, WA, the Rose Garden offers a peaceful space for reflection and connection. It has been thoughtfully designed to be a place where visitors can experience a sense of calm and renewal. Carefully curated and maintained, the garden features over 100 stunning rose bushes, each purchased and dedicated in honor or memory of a loved one. This special garden is overseen by the Senior Resident Council’s Grounds Committee, with many members participating in the CRISTA Gardening Club.

A Resident-Led Experience

Led by longtime resident Pat, the Gardening Club meets every Friday at 11 AM in the outdoor garden spaces at Cristwood Park in Shoreline, WA. Whether you’re a master gardener or just learning the difference between annuals and perennials, there’s a spot for everyone.

More Than a Garden—A Way to Connect

The Gardening Club is just one of many resident-led groups and activities offered at CRISTA Senior Living. From art classes to walking clubs and Bible studies, there are countless ways for residents to connect, build friendships, and stay active. It’s part of what makes our senior living community so vibrant and welcoming.

Gardening in particular offers unique benefits—combining physical activity, mental wellness, and the therapeutic effects of fresh air and nature. Spending time outdoors has been shown to reduce heart rate and muscle tension. Sunlight lowers blood pressure and increases vitamin D levels.
