CRISTA Senior Living - Who is Jesus hero image

Who is Jesus?

We’re glad you are here and want to know more about Jesus.

Whether you are just beginning or are renewing your relationship with God, we are honored to share this journey with you. Here is some good news from the Bible that will help you in your desire to walk with God. Follow these steps to enter into a relationship with Jesus.

You Have a Purpose.

Step #1: Realize that you matter to God!

God loves you and has a plan for your life!

  • God says, “Before you were born, I knew you and set you apart.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

  • God tells us in the Bible, “I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore, I have drawn you with loving kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3) Jesus said: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)

  • The good news from God is this: You don’t have to go at it alone, God has always been in your corner, you are not alone, you can have a friendship with God.

  • God’s plan for you… Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (full and overflowing).” (John 10:10)

Here's the Problem.

Step #2:  Recognize that you need God!

What is it that is keeping you from a relationship with Him? (Many people today want to come to God but just don’t know how…keep reading)

  • The problem is that you are separated from God because of your sin. “For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

  • The result of your sin is “The wages (result or just payment) of our sin is death” (Romans 6:23) That means we are separated from God, spiritually lost and empty, and in need of salvation.

Here's the Solution.

Step #3:   Realize that God solved your problem!

He cares about you and wants to help you.

  • God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die as a sacrifice for your sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins so we can be forgiven and have a friendship with God.

  • The Bible says, “But God demonstrates his own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

  • Then, three days later, Jesus rose from the dead to prove that He is the Son of God and to seal His victory over sin and death so that we can have eternal life. “Jesus was declared to be the Son of God, with power, by the resurrection from the dead.” (Romans 1:4) “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son. That whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

  • Conclusion: Jesus Christ is God’s only solution for my struggle with sin, guilt, death, and fear; and my need for purpose, love, and fulfillment. Jesus put it this way, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.” (John 14:6)

  • Here is what makes this such good news: Jesus is reaching out to you! He says in Revelation 3:20, “Behold I stand at the door and knock, and if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into them and have fellowship with them and they with me.”

  • On February 16, 1976, I realized that Jesus was standing at the door of my soul knocking, wanting to come into my life and help me. He asked me to open the door and invite Him into my life. He is doing that, right now, for you as well. What will your choice be?

Receive God's Forgiveness.

Step #4:  How will you respond to Christ’s offer of forgiveness and relationship?

  • Jesus wants to forgive you and will forgive you if you turn to Him. How do you do that?

  • Confess your sins and ask Jesus to forgive you. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9) You can ask God to forgive you of your sins right now.

  • Believe in Jesus Christ. “If you believe in your heart that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God and confess with your mouth that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” (Acts 16:33). Jesus said: “Whoever believes in me has eternal life.” (John 6:46) “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe on His name.” (John 1:12)

  • Jesus promised “Ask and you will receive.”  You can open your heart to Jesus right now and invite Him to be your Savior and Lord. Jesus said “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into them and dine with them and they with Me.” (Revelation 3:20)

  • Taking this step of faith involves opening the door of your heart and asking/praying for Jesus Christ to come into your life.

Here is a simple prayer of inviting God into your life:

Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin. I ask for your forgiveness, and I’m so grateful you sent Jesus to die for my sin. I want to trust Him. I want purpose in my life that you offer. I give my life to You and ask You to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord forever. Guide me and help me follow You. Thank You! Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD!

Here are two promises of assurance that will give you confidence and security in God:

  • “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:11-12

  • “Therefore, if any person is in Christ, they are a new creation, behold, old things have passed away and all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17.
