Independent living areas: We have had no residents or staff diagnosed with COVID-19 in our independent apartments on either campus since the single case at Cristwood Park that was announced March 18. That resident has been recovering in the apartment and has now completed the 14-day quarantine period.

Assisted living areas: One part time staff member at The Courtyard at Cristwood tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-March and has now completed the 14-day quarantine. We learned on April 2 that one resident in The Courtyard at Cristwood tested positive and is now receiving care at a hospital. There have been no COVID-19 diagnoses at CRISTA Shores in Silverdale.

CRISTA Rehab & Skilled Care: On March 29 the nursing facility on our Shoreline campus arranged for testing of residents and staff members living or working in an isolated wing where multiple residents recently tested positive. Prior testing focused on individuals displaying symptoms of COVID-19, but in the interest of prevention and early detection, CRISTA chose to also test non-symptomatic residents and staff. 26 residents and 16 staff who worked on that unit have now tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Residents on that unit who did not test positive have been moved to other areas of the nursing facility. Employees who have tested positive have been removed from the workplace and referred to their primary care providers for treatment.

Each resident and staff member is very important to CRISTA, and our leaders are working with residents and families to provide updates, guidance and as much information as possible while respecting privacy laws and the individual rights of each person affected. We appreciate the support of the CRISTA community.

CRISTA takes the threat of COVID-19 very seriously. We require our residents, their loved ones, and our entire Senior Living family to be diligent in abiding by all restrictions that have been imposed. We rigorously enforce these restrictions to protect the health and well-being of our CRISTA family and the community at large.

We continue to monitor information and guidance from the Washington State Department of Health and the CDC, and we are working closely with state and local public health and emergency preparedness officials.

In His service,

Glen Melin
