3 Perspectives: The Meaning of Christmas

3 Perspectives: The Meaning of Christmas

December 19, 2018

The true meaning of Christmas often gets lost in the chaos of the holiday season. We asked residents what Christmas means to them. Our question was met with simple yet profound responses:

Kathleen: “Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, our long expected Savior. His miraculous birth, life, and death affords me peace and joy in this life and hope and expectation of eternal life. It also is a joyous time of year because we can celebrate His birth and celebrate our families being together.”

John: “Christmas is celebrated as the birth of Jesus but to me it means so much more. If he did not come as a baby and lived a life as a man, then he wouldn’t have been able to die for my sins. Christmas is just the start of it. The end of it is that He died and rose again. I look at it as a whole.”

Murray: “My first stage performance at age 4 was at church and I was told to stand up and say, ‘Christmas is not a stocking!’ I’ll never forget that. Christmas is about Christ – why He came and 33 years later why He died and why He rose and why He left and why He is coming back. It’s also a time for family, friends, and community to come together in loving embrace.”
