CRISTA Senior Living, a Community Like No Other

The mission of CRISTA Senior Living is to bring joy and purpose to the lives of seniors, a goal of CRISTA Ministries since its earliest days.

In 1949, CRISTA founder Mike Martin negotiated with the King County Board of Commissioners to lease the former Firlands Tuberculosis Sanatorium grounds for use in his ministry to teens. As a condition of the lease, the county required that he establish a nursing home to help support the ministry while meeting the county's need for senior housing. Over time, independent living and assisted living apartments were added to the expanding nursing care units on the Shoreline campus.

Today, Cristwood serves more than 500 residents in a variety of settings. In 1994, Crista Shores opened in Silverdale, expanding the reach of CRISTA Senior Living across the Puget Sound. With independent and assisted living apartments, Crista Shores serves more than 160 residents today. Through quality services, dedicated care, meaningful programs, and an engaged community, CRISTA Senior Living strives to provide residents with a lifestyle beyond compare.
